In 2019 Fattoria di Petrognano decided to welcome applied research projects within the company. The goal is to utilise the structure of the vineyards to generate new knowledge and interact with other entities in the wine supply chain. The aim is to look to the future without forgetting what was learned in the past, and promote new awareness on how to manage the resources available. In this vein, through collaborating with various partners ranging from the University of Florence to precision and sustainable agricultural companies, a number of innovative projects are underway relating to vineyard management using the Animavitis® philosophy: viticulture 5.0, the use of effective micro-organisms and biodynamic preparations in soils, and studies on the optimisation of estate practice to maximise the expression of the raw material.
